Dongguan Times, October 19, 2010
The news that Xi Jinping has been appointed vice chairman of the Central Military Commission at the end of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has sparked off renewed debate that he will be appointed the next president.
The Dongguan Times goes all out and fills the front page with a picture of Xi. The headline simply announces Xi’s appointment and inside the paper a straight chronological outline of his CV and achievements: education at Tsinghua, work in Henan, Fujiang Zhejiang, Shanghai and in the politburo of the central government.
