Singing duo breakout hit banned after infringing intellectual property rights
Today’s Jianghui Morning News reports on the Lantern Festival today - the last day of the Chinese New Year and fireworks. Inside, a story on the sensation of “migrant laborer” singers, who, since releasing a video of themselves singing to pop star Wang Feng’s (汪峰) hit song “In Spring” (春天里) after drinking copious amounts of alcohol and shirtless, has become a national hit. The raw performance gave the singing duo an opportunity to appear on the Spring Festival Gala (in a segment showcasing ordinary, “grassroots” performers), and they hit the mainstream.

Abducted boy goes home, but “sister” remains separated from birth family
The story of Peng Xinle (彭心乐) has been going around in the news. Due to Phoenix journalist Deng Fei, who helped Peng’s father re-post the lost boy’s picture on Sina weibo. This has coincided with Yu Jianrong, a professor at the China Academy of Social Science, and his campaign on Sina weibo to get child beggars reunited with parents in cases of trafficking. Although it has been faced with some criticism, right now at least six children have been reunited.

Celebrating “Little New Year” tomorrow
Tomorrow if the traditional beginning of Chinese New Year, the “Little New Year” (小年), which is celebrated on the 23rd day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar. Traditional festivities include paying respects to the Kitchen God (祭灶) and sweeping away from the “Year” (扫年). The Sanjing City News from Shanxi puts the “Little New Year” warning on its front page, showing a child offering sweets to the Kitchen Gods.
