FRONT PAGE OF THE DAY
The Beijing News wins because of its newsworthy headline:
WHO POISONED THE CHILDREN?
The story is about a school children who were apparently poisoned by a lead and zinc processing factory in Hebei . The factory denied responsibility. The children were all sent to Beijing for treatment.
The other large headline may not seem like news: BUS SPEED TO REACH 20 KM/H.
But if you commute on Beijing’s traffic clogged streets, it will seem a little newsworthy. On the other hand the possibility of any sensible measures to deal with Beijing’s traffic problems does not seem too realistic, judging by past performance.

WORST FRONT PAGE OF THE DAY
The Beijing Daily Messenger does it again, for juxtaposing the poisoned children story, headlined 114 CHENGDE PUPILS COME TO BEIJING FOR TREATMENT, with a photograph showing a woman holding what appears to be a large dildo. If you read the small headline, you discover that it is actually bollocks about Olympic stuff: TORCH AMBASSADORS FOR 2004 OLYMPIC GAMES CHOSEN.
