According to McDonalds’ Beijing company, a Shanghai-based trading company will become the first authorized dealer for McDonalds’ new non-junk-food products: Mckids – a clothing line for children. Poor market performance and pressure from KFC seem to be forcing McDonalds to look at expansion into different industries. McKids will initially lauched in Mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea.
The scary question: what kind of parents will voluntarily clothes their children in Mckids?
Meanwhile, Beijing- based milk giant Sanyuan is planning to produce a range of icecreams. There is already fierce competition in China’s low price icecream market, the biggest players being Uniliver’s Walls brand, Nestle, and local brands Yili and Mengniu. It’s not going to be easy for Sanyuan.
