The coverlines on San Lian Life Week‘s current issue are: “The moment the Cultural Revolution ended — the 30th anniversary of smashing the Gang of Four”.

The image shows Gang of Four member and wife of Mao Zedong Jiang Qing in court during her trial for her activities during the Cultural Revolution.

Although the article discusses three aspects of the subject — political fighting, economic and cultural factors, and young people’s lives at that time — it is rather superficial and boring. However, public discussion of the Cultural Revolution still is a taboo in China, so even this is a good beginning. A little crack may break a whole bottle.
