The city of Xiangfan (襄樊) in Hubei province has been renamed Xiangyang (襄阳) － the change is official in today’s Xiangyang Daily rather than yesterday Xiangfan Daily. The paper reports yesterday’s events, which include the taking down of the old Xiangfan People’s Government sign and adding the new Xiangyang sign (main picture). They received approval for the change on December 2.
Reports tell the masses not to celebrate the change of name, and to treat it with austerity.
