The Chongqing City police released a sketch yesterday of a suspect in the deadly May 19 shooting of a PLA soldier guarding a local military base and theft of his rifle.

The sketch appeared in most of today’s newspapers across China, including the front page of today’s China Business View. It doesn’t provide many identifiable features of the suspect: his face has been pixelated

• The top headline of the newspaper concerns the release of the so-called “China’s human rights action plan”, which gives a list of human rights that the government has pledged to promote in the next two years.

Among the measures:

• Extraction of confessions through torture will be banned;

• The issuing of resident permits in medium and small-sized cities to migrants will made easier;

• Female representation in the government will be guaranteed.

Xinhua provides more details in English here.

• In the sidebar on the right of the front page, two “market surveyers” suspected of conducting business espionage when distributing surveys in a clothing market in Xi’an were forced by the market’s management to do 1,000 push-ups before they were allowed to leave.

• Another news items concerns Ji Zhongchun, a former police officer, earlier convicted of shooting a man dead, was sentenced to death yesterday in Honghe, Yunnan Province. On February 13, Ji had been drinking and had a dispute with the victim over car parking> Ji shot the victim three times with a pistol.
