Is the murderer of Fujian schoolchildren mentally ill?
Most newspaper front pages today focus, some in graphic detail, on the March 23 Fujian Nanping (福建南平) incident, where 8 (or 9, depending on which account you read) primary school students were stabbed to death by a man at 7.20am in the morning.

A clear water pool turns muddy in Yunnan
Kunming’s Heilongtan Park’s clear water pool changed to a muddy color overnight. The management of the park claimed that the park had never gone muddy in March before.

Zhang Ziyi crying over award dropout or Sophie’s Revenge?
Yesterday, the Top China Awards (华鼎奖), which are often referred to as the “People’s Choice Awards” (老百姓口碑奖) announced the nomination list for their 20 awards. Zhang Ziyi was missing from the list, despite early rumors that she was nominated.

In a detention center, Jiangxi man dies from “falling over”
The bottom right of the front page was taken up by a story about the latest case of “accidental” death, of Chen Xujin (陈绪金), in a detention center. The incident occurred in the Xiushui county (修水县) of the city of Jiujiang (九江市), Jiangxi province. Beijing Times reports.

11 Siberian tigers die at Shenyang’s Bingchuan Wildlife Park
A combination of reporters for the newspaper reported inside the wildlife park and interviewed the deputy Party secretary of the Bingchuan Wildlife Park, Wu Xi (武席), about whether the tigers starved to death.
