KFC’s icon Colonel Sanders is shedding his white suit jacket for a cook’s red apron. This Tuesday KFC unveiled a new logo that includes bolder colors and a more well-defined visage of the late Kentucky Fried Chicken founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, who will keep his classic black bow tie, glasses and goatee. This is the fourth time KFC has changed their logo in 50 years of business.
The launch campaign in America seems ambitious. According to a Reuters report, KFC on Tuesday launched the campaign with an 87,500 square-foot image of Colonel Sanders in the Nevada desert which the company says makes KFC the world’s first brand visible from space. “From space, extraterrestrials and astronauts can look back to earth and see The Great Wall of China — and KFC’s Colonel Sanders.”
The Beijing News reported the launch event in China and said that the chain store now accepted franchise applications for RMB 2 million, a lot less than the previous RMB 8 million requirement. KFC plan to open 400 stores every year in China.
