A lone clone piglet in Hebei

Last week Friday scientists at the Chinese Agriculture University celebrated the birth of a piglet that was cloned from a body cell of an adult pig. The piglet was one of a brood of three, but the other two died shortly after birth.

The report quoted scientists as saying that cloned pigs would be useful for organ transplants and scientific research, as well as for improving pig species.
