Diving in the Cultural Revolution
Professor Thomas H. Hahn of the Department of City and Regional Planning of Cornell University has a website that includes a superb collection of official propaganda images related to the Cultural Revolution including images of sports, Ping Pong politics, industry and agriculture etc.
Hahn also taught a course on the impact of the Olympic Games on the city of Beijing last semester at Cornell. The syllabus, reading lists and notes are on the Web here.
Two other noteworthy collections of Chinese propaganda online are Stefan Landsberger’s much loved Chinese Propaganda Poster Pages and Mao Post which sells posters and can also arrange to have your portrait painted in old school Chinese propaganda style.
