August 22 is the 100th anniversary of Deng Xiaoping’s birth, so the Olympics were slightly neglected in today’s newspapers. Deng’s picture returned to most newpapers’ front pages.
Beijing Youth Daily published a 55-page special supplement (pictured) featuring interviews with people who knew him. The interviewees included Deng’s relatives, colleagues, friends as well as common people. Of course, they all praised Deng highly.
