The English language weekly Beijing Today (November 28) reports:
For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, transgendered athletes will be permitted to compete in the Olympics under new rules being finalized by the International Olympic Committee.
Beijing Today, published by the Beijing Youth Daily, has a website here, but the transexual Olympic article doesn’t seem to be up. It’s worth a trawl around though. One of the more interesting articles is a feature called ‘Save 798!‘
798 is an old arms factory in the northeastern suburbs of Beijing. The factory, designed by East German architects in the 1950s, has recently become home to a community of artists, publishing and cultural businesses. 798 is now threatened with demolition to make way for yet another bad real estate project.
