The next big thing: high-end newspapers

Pacific Epoch summarizes a Sohu.com report:

High-end financial daily newspapers and the consolidation of city newspapers in well-developed regions are emerging opportunities for investors, according to the “2003-2004 China Newspaper Market Research Report” released by Beijing-based investment bank China eCapital. The report predicts that China’s newspaper market will grow 18 percent year-on-year to 39.7 billion yuan in 2004. According to the report total advertising income will hit 28.4 billion yuan for the year while distribution (news stand) income will bring in 11.3 billion yuan.
