The Olympics came in second place to another story in Beijing’s print media today, even though China got one gold medal for diving last night.
Instead of gold medallist diver Peng Bo, a bus accident was used as the front page photo for most Beijing newspapers (pictured front page from The Beijing News).

Bus Collision
It is common in China to see such scenes: two or more buses plying the same route rush to the same bus station in order to get more passagers. Such a race yesterday caused an accident, according to the Beijing Daily Messenger and the The Beijing News: Two buses collided and 45 passengers were sent to hospital. Eight of them were found to be slightly injured. The president of the company that owned one of the buses held a press conference to apologize to the public.
Price of 93 octane gasoline in Beijing to be increased by RMB 0.2 per liter to 3.66 per liter.
