Besides news about Chinese aid to tsunami-hit countries, the other big story is about how Chinese people celebrated the Gregorian New Year holiday.
Today’s Beijing Times fronted with a picture of a “lucky chicken” (jixiang ji). These chickens are made of pieces of corn and Chinese sorghum. According to a “chicken” vendor at Beijing’s Laitai market, they will keep on selling well until Chinese New Year. Big news eh.
NOTE: The Year of the Rooster (aka Year of the Cock or Chicken) does not actually start until Chinese new year’s day, which falls on February 9 this year.
