Barmé on hard men

Geremie Barmé is a Sinologist who first came to China during the ‘Criticize Confucius and Lin Biao’ campaign and has been writing about Chinese culture, society and politics since then. He has written an opinion piece which was published just over a week ago in The Australian newspaper:
