Very warned

UPDATE (2008.10.30): According to VeryCD, the “warning” it is listed as having received was actually handed down quite a while ago and had to do with its registration. It suspects that the lists might be a summary of citations and warnings issued by SARFT rather than a new announcement. (link)

SARFT has ordered ten Chinese video websites to stop operations for pornographic and violent content, and videos harmful to national interests. This type of language is commonly used by SARFT and other regulatory bodies to indicate a wide range of offenses against the media nannies of China, from the political to the pornographic.

Some of the websites are Youtube style video sharing sites, some are online platforms for the exchange of movie files (invariably pirate). In addition to the ten websites that were shut down, SARFT also issued warnings, together with possible fines, to 17 other video websites.
