State-owned news agency Xinhua has published a report about CNN’s Eye on China, a week long special of broadcasts from Shanghai and around China. The Xinhua article was republished from Dongfang Wang – Eastday.com, a website under the control of the Shanghai city government. Here is a rough translation of the last few lines of the piece, which is titled: CNN special report from Shanghai: The West increasingly looks on China rationally.
In the last few years, foreign media have one after another reported on China; China-themed special report are nothing new. Previously, there was a common feeling in China that Western media always looked at China through “tinted glasses”, either unselectively ignoring China’s merits, or greatly exaggerating China’s problems.
