Rising out of the South China Sea between Guangdong and Vietnam, the island of Hainan was for centuries dubbed the ´land´s end.´
Here are the the title and opening lines of a story from a Xinhua story published on their website about two weeks later:
“China’s Hawaii” vies to rival Phuket and Bali
Beijing, Dec. 17, (Xinhuanet) — Rising out of the South China Sea between Guangdong and Vietnam, the island of Hainan was for centuries dubbed the “land’s end.”
The only difference is the date, byline and different use of single and double quote marks. Hardly fair use, is it. The That’s Beijing story is no longer online, the Xinhua act of piracy is here.
