Those are the words of Cui Zi’en, whom the China Daily calls “China’s foremost homosexual author and filmmaker”. Joseph Bosco on the weblog The Longbow Papers notes how fast things have changed here:
“When one of my writing students chose homosexuality in China for her final research paper at Xiamen University last spring, just the fact she had proposed it as her thesis became a ricocheting rumor on a campus of almost 20,000. The fact that I approved the topic was worth another wave of gossip, rebounding the length and breadth of the sprawling, otherwise tranquil university.
