The NY Times: No news from Zhao Yan

The New York Times has published an editorial about the detention of Times researcher Zhao Yan, who has been incarcerated incommunicado by some nasty Nanny police types for the past six months. There is no new information in the piece, it is simply a reminder that “international attention” to the case will not fade.

Meanwhile, a bunch of journalism students at Beijing Foreign Studies University has been writing essays — in English — about the Zhao Yan case, revealing a range of different opinions about it. The essays are on the students’ group blog, We Observe the World. Scroll down for the relevant posts.

The students’ faculty advisor is the writer Joseph Bosco, who has a blog called The Longbow Papers.
