The makeup of the Politburo was announced yesterday, and the nine-member Politburo Standing Committee was introduced to the foreign and domestic press.
This news made the front page of every page in the nation. Shenyang Evening News elected to run individual headshots of the Nine alongside a Xinhua photo of them standing together at the press conference (this layout happens to be identical to that chosen by today’s Shenyang Daily). The box on the upper right contains a teaser for a report on the press conference.
The main headline announces, “New central leadership line-up unveiled,” and the subheads list off the names of the leaders of various party organs; details are provided in the article on the lower left.
