Today’s newspapers trumpeted the amazing news that nine survivors of a mining disaster had been rescued after being trapped underground for more than a week.
Like many papers, the Daily Sunshine called the news a “miracle” (奇迹) in its front-page headline:

Shanxi mine disaster rescue effort: nine survivors freed
· At 1 am, eight days after the disaster, the first group of 9 trapped miners was rescued.
· After they surfaced, the miners were sent to the hospital where they were found to be in good condition.
· Rescue efforts were still continuing at press time; there are reported to be more survivors.
On the Qingming Festival, our prayer is that the miracles will continue and life will go on!
Xinhua is now reporting that “dozens” of trapped miners have been rescued.
