Beijing Evening News, December 15, 2010
The top story in today’s Beijing Evening News concerns a new set of administrative measures released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to govern the rental of urban properties.
The Administrative Procedures for the Leasing of Commercial Buildings (商品房屋租赁管理办法) comprise twenty-eight articles. The paper paper has chosen to highlight the second half of #9 in its headline: “Rent may not be raised while rental contract is in effect.”
The new rules will go into effect on February 1, 2011, and will replace the Administrative Procedures for the Leasing of Urban Housing, which have been in place since 1995.
