In Chongqing, a rainstorm that started on 16 July dumped the most water since local record-keeping began in 1892. The front page picture on the left shows the heavy rains and flooded roads.
Also on the front page is a headline noting that China Mobile has said that beginning in August, it will stop two-way charges under its Go Tone (全球通) plan. Instead of charging both callers and recipients, only the party that dials out will have to pay.
This is China Mobile’s latest response to widespread complatints from the public. In February it announced a new fee schedule that many people saw as a veiled attempt to raise prices. Then in May, it introduced one-way charges but required users to sign a one-year contract first. The new plan implements one-way charges for all customers.
