Luo Lan, a woman who introduced pole dancing to China, will show off her moves on stage at a provincial-level Spring Festival gala.
Today’s New Express reports the news with photos showing dancers practicing at a rehearsal for the Guangxi Province Spring Festival gala.
Luo told the newspaper that her ultimate goal is to bring pole dancing to the Olympic Games.
As all reports on Chinese pole dancing repeatedly emphasize, the dance is a modified version which is more gymnastic than sexual: performers climb, slide down, and holding poses on the pole. It has become a popular fitness exercise for women in China’s big cities.
