The top headline in today’s Beijing Morning Post announces that the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress adopted an energy-saving law yesterday.
In an effort to avoid waste, the new rules say that utilities are prohibited from offering their employees free supplies. Yesterday’s meeting also adopted other three laws and appointed new ministers and provincial party chiefs. See this Xinhua article for more information.
The front page photo shows China’s first all-weather bicycle stadium in Laoshan, Beijing. The building, which was completed just yesterday, can seat 6,000 people and will hold its first match in December this year.
