Today’s Daily Sunshine, a Shenzhen-based newspaper, reports that a visiting Nigerian table tennis player has been beating all opposition in a series of matches in Shenzhen. According to the newspaper, twenty-five-year old Wasiu Fatai has won 50 out the 55 matches with Shenzhen’s professionals and amateurs alike.
Wasiu has displayed great stamina since most of the times he played multiple opponents in turn.
It is a bit of a surprise that an African beat so many Chinese players in what is often supposed to be their own game － “Compared with Asia and Europe, the development of African ping pong has been backward” the newspaper comments.
