Today’s New Culture View reports that the People’s Supreme Court approved the death sentence of Yang Jia, the man who murdered six policemen and wounded three others and a security guard on July 1 this year. The execution was ordered to be carried out within seven days of the Court’s approval.
Follow-up reports from other sources confirm that Yang was executed earlier today.

Guan Guoliang, former chairman of New China Insurance, stood trial yesterday for embezzlement in Beijing’s Second Intermediate People’s Court yesterday. The court hasn’t made its decision yet.
An investigation into Guan’s embezzlement case launched by China Insurance Regulatory Commission shows that Guan had embezzled a total of 13 billion yuan from New China Insurance during his eight years tenure, with most of the funds being used to acquire company shares and for other unauthorized investments. Guan was sacked last December and prosecuted this October.
