Zi Beijia, the freelance journalist behind the fake cardboard baozi scandal, has been sentenced to one year in prison and a 1,000 yuan fine. He was found to have damaged the reputation of a product or business; Beijing’s No. 2 Intermediate Court announced its decision yesterday. Many papers, including today’s Beijing Times, ran this story as a front-page headline. Zi has not said whether he will appeal the judgment.
