Top headline of today’s Beijing Morning Post announces that the Beijing Municipal Committee of Urban Planning and the Beijing Cultural Heritage Bureau released a list of protected 20th Century buildings. The list includes the Great Hall of the People, the Beijing Department Store, and the 798 Factory.
The second headline says that in response to many people’s doubts, the State Forestry Administration has asked the Shaanxi Forestry Bureau to authenticate the controversial photos of a South China Tiger and to publicize the results.
The front page photo shows a fire burning at a goverment building in Washington, DC. Although the overlay text reads “White House on fire,” the incident actually happened next door, at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.
