Today’s Beijing Youth Daily has good news for people with low incomes. The deputy director of the Beijing Construction Management Committee said that 6,000 affordable homes will come to market soon, most of them located in developed communities like Chaoyang New Town, Sanhuan New Town, Huilongguan and Songjiazhuang.

The front page photo shows the new CCTV building, whose cross pieces are supposed to be completely joined up today. Construction is expected to be fully completed on January 1, 2009.

Other headlines:

• Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda will visit China on December 27. He is scheduled to present a keynote speech at Peking University.

• Twenty-four people were named criminally responsibility for the collapse of the Fenghuang bridge, which killed sixty-four people on August 13 (see Danwei’s earlier report).
