Police campaign against knives on campus

The Beijing police and education authorities today start cracking down on knife vendors around schools and universities and confiscating illegal weapons carried by students, the Beijing Times reports.

The newspaper reports that six students in different Chinese cities have died after being stabbed this year. Last month, a student of China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing knifed a professor to death.

. Yesterday’s football game between Beijing Guo’an and Tianjing Master Kang descended into chaos caused by a disputed referee call. The game ended prematurely with a 2:2 tie.

. According to a report released by the National Audit Office yesterday, from January to October this year, 22.7 billion yuan of public funds have been found to have been misused. 53 government officials and 172 other people are to be prosecuted for their involvement.
