Beijing ranks on top of the list of mainland China’s provincial-level municipalities for having the highest number of richest people, according to a study conducted by Hurun Research Institute.

Hurun Research Institute is a Shanghai-based business consulting firm that has been releasing annual reports on the distribution of wealth in China since 1999. According to its latest study, there are 151,000 individuals living in Beijing whose personal wealth exceeds 10 million RMB, which makes the capital city China’s richest town.

Right on the heel of Beijing, Guangdong Province holds the runner-up ranking with its 145,000 decamillionaires. Shanghai, China’s most dynamic commercial and industrial center, placed third.
