The lead head in today’s Wuhan Evening Post paper announces that the city’s power company implemented rotating limits in downtown Wuhan yesterday.

Because of recent snow and cold temperatures, combined with equipment breakdown and a shortage of coal at some power plants, the entire Hubei Province grid has been placed in a red warning state. This is the second time that electricity limits have been implemented in Wuhan this winter. According to an energy official, the tight situation will extend until mid-March.

The front page photo shows firefighters helping citizens to clear their roofs of snow to reduce the risk of accumulated snow crushing in the old one-story house.

Other headlines:

  • Snow and frozen weather will last until the end of this month, according to the Wuhan Weather Center. The subtitle reads “US Weather Service predicts that bad weather in Hubei will last until February 4”;
