The “Bohemian Beijing adventures of a big northern rooster”: a youngster comes to Beijing to seek a place in the arts and entertainment fields.
The rooster does not actually sing the story — he just dances to a tinny hip hop song while subtitles spell out his adventures in Beijing. The ‘bei piao’ (北漂) of the title usually refers to youngsters who drift to Beijing and become arty slackers, or try to make it in the cultural, media and entertainment industries.
