Hong Kong branding buffoonery

Hong Kong based design and brand identity guru Henry Steiner “yesterday warned that Hong Kong desperately needed to find a consistent face after years of branding ‘buffoonery'” according to the South China Morning Post (scmp.com, October 25). “Mr Steiner said Hong Kong had presented an incoherent message at home and internationally … [with] a string of failed messages from “Asia’s World City” to “Wonders Never Cease.”

Steiner designed the HSBC logo and the Hong Kong dollar banknotes issued by the Standard Chartered Bank.
