Colgate’s most politically incorrect product is Darlie toothpaste, once known as ‘Darkie’ in English and still called ‘black man’ (hei ren) in Chinese.
They are now selling a brand extension: Black Man Baby Bunny Kids toothpaste (hei ren baobei tu ertong yagao).

From some leftover of 50s Chinese magazine at my attic, I know that Hei Ren toothpaste had been long produced in China. The then new Communist government banned the name citing racism, and changed it to Hei Bai toothpaste (literally, black and white toothpaste).
In history the government had changed many brand names, and there was a repercussion in early 80s. I remember Hei Bai toothpaste (no longer related to any foreign firm) applied to recover to its original name and got turned down. I thought this case was dead.
