Most of Beijing’s newspapers used the same headline and photograph again today. As Beijing Morning Post shows (left), Typhoon Rananim and Beijing Olympic games construction are the dominant news stories of today.
Typhoon Rananim, the 14th this year, killed at least 63 people and injured over 1,800 people in east China’s Zhejiang Province, according to a report from Qiangjiang Evening News. The image on the front page of the Beijing Morning Post shows three pedestrians in Hangzhou struggling with their umbrellas in strong winds and rain brought by Typhoon Rananim Thursday.
Beijing Olympic Games construction
The deadline for the completion of construction of the main facilities for the 2008 Olympic Games will be one year later than originally planned, according liu Qi, to the secretary of Beijing municipal party committee.

Qin Dahe
Qin is the president of China Weather Bureau. He’s in the news because he acted as a weather reporter on CCTV yesterday, and did analysis on the potential influence of Typhoon Rananim. It is the first time the president of China Weather Bureau has done a TV weather forecast himself.
