Guangzhou Metro Daily, is a free tabloid distributed in Guangzhou subway stations by the Guangzhou Daily Newspaper Group. It appears three times a week, and carries short, eye-catching articles.
Today’s headline shouts “9-11 was a conspiracy”. This bold exposé comes from the Global Times, but the original source is the Russian tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda. According to the subheads:
· “The official explaination has many points of contention and has been questioned by many engineers”;
· “Specialists believe that the real cause was explosives beneath the grond rather than two civil airplanes”;
· “Three quarters of American citizens suspect that their government is withholding the truth.”
The other front-page picture shows a performer with a special talent: he can blow a traditional hulusi flute with his nose while inflating a balloon with his ear. The man will appear at a variety show to be held in Guangzhou this November that will showcase quirky talents.
Other headlines, which appear above brief wire reports:
· China now has 900 million telephone users;
· Guangzhou Airport is the forth most convenient airport in China;
· A new tax will be assessed on car owners in place of road tolls.
