FRONT PAGE OF THE DAY
The Southern Weekend (nanfang zhoumo) gets the prize for covering all the hot topics of the week. These are the headlines:
PROTECTING PRIVATE PROPERTY IS A NECESSARY STEP FOR THE RISE OF A GREAT STATE
[MASS MURDERER] MA JIAJUE’S FINAL DESTINATION
ENSURING HUMAN RIGHTS BY JUST PROCEDURES
HONORABLE MENTION goes to the Beijing Evening News for being the only newspaper to feature an image of the Sino-French naval exercises (something like actual news). The major headlines are:
INTERNATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT GAMBLING INVADES CHINA MARKET
SINO-FRENCH NAVY MANEUVERS HELD
“International entertainment gambling” refers to the seizure of CDs containing Swiss-made gambling software by Chinese customs officials.
WORST FRONT PAGE OF THE DAY
The Beijing Youth Daily offers this important news as its major headline: OLYMPIC PAINTER DRAWS CHINA AGAIN.
