A writer named Liang Ning on Blog China conducted an informal survey about Mu Zi Mei. He asked 20 women in their 20s and 30s who work IT, media and marketing what they thought about Mu Zi Mei’s writings. According to the post, five of them said:
“This is not bad. Next time I get sexually harrassed, I won’t sue, I’ll just write about it. If a man dares to touch me, I’ll dare to write about him. At least Mu Zi Mei will make men be a little careful about the way they treat women.”
Blog China is an IT focused blog. Like danwei.org, it has seen its server pummelled by the prurient on account of frequent Mu Zi Mei postings.
In other Mu Zi Mei news, Danwei previously reported that articles about her may have been banned from print media. This is still unconfirmed, but the state-owned China Daily now reports that a book of her writings has been banned. Which authority did the banning is unclear.
If any ban exists, nobody is taking it too seriously. The China Daily itself gets on the Mu Zi Mei bandwagon with this article which contains the following list of Mu Zi Mei soundbites:
“If I married, I would still have sex with other men.”
“How can I be so promiscuous? Because I do not use sex to exchange anything, such as money or marriage. It makes me happy, and gives me the chance to study men; every man has his particular characteristics.”
