All leading headlines and photos on the front pages of today’s newspapers are about an important conference : the third session of the 12th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress.
Beijing’s mayor Wang Qishan delivered a government work status report at the opening of the meeting on January 23. Wang’s report said that Beijing city was aiming for 9% GDP increase this year. Wang also set out an “Olympic pledge” for 2005 at the meeting.
