Chinese electric bikes in Italy

Following the commercial success of electric bicycles in Beijing and other Chinese cities, a bright future for the for the clean green machines seems to be unfolding overseas. Yesterday, the on-line version of the Italian popular newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ described the launch on the local market of the Chinese urban easy rider:

On sale at the price of 570 Euro [about RMB 5,900], this little zoomer won’t attract Italian buyers for its performance on the road (25Km/hour maximum speed) but I bet it will attract buyers mostly because Italians don’t need to wear a helmet, nor pay insurance and other taxes to ride it.

Somehow we don’t think this type of bicycle is going to sell well in Texas.
