How much money do Chinese advertising people make?

By Ben Marcom

I am often asked how much ad men in Beijing earn. It is a difficult question to answer because this industry is very varied: creative and media types can be totally different, and it depends where you work.

According to a survey done by ChinaHr.com and Zhaopin.com, two leading Chinese recruitment websites, salaries in the Chinese advertising industry rank in the top 10 of all industires in this country.

Apparently, Beijing’s advertising people have the highest average salaries in China, earning an average of RMB 5,560 per month. Guangzhou is in secind place with an average ad man salary of of RMB 5,470, with Shanghai at third place with average monthly agency salaries of RMB 5,210.

Two other findings:

– Average salaries will continue to increase.

– The salary gap between different postions is enlarging.
