The most popular photo for the front pages of today’s newspapers is of Zhengyang Gate at the south end of Tian’anmen Square. The Gate is bathed in three colored lights representing the French national flag.
The People’s Daily reported the talks between Hu Jintao and Jacques Chirac, highlighting Hu’s proposals on promoting Sino-French ties in four aspects.
Chirac’s visit also brought good business opportunities to French companies. According to the Beijing Youth Daily , Airbus yesterday signed an agreement to sell 26 aircraft to Chinese airlines, representing a total cost of over USD 1 billion. Before this agreement, Airbus had already got orders for 50 aircraft for China this year.
