The top headline of today’s Beiing Times is ‘Traffic fines could be paid by swiping [debit] cards’. Apparently ICBC bank is testing a system allowing traffic law violators to pay their fines on the spot.

The photo shows northern China’s “largest dragon boat race” taking place at Longqing Lake in Fangshan, south of Beijing. Dragon boat races traditionally take place on the Duanwu Festival, which is the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar and falls tomorrow.
