Xinhua reports on a meeting between Viacom’s chairman Sumner M. Redstone and Liu Yanshan, the “publicity chief of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.”
“Publicity” is the new word for “propaganda”.
From the report:
Liu said he appreciated Viacom’s exchange and cooperation with the Chinese media, saying over the past 30 years, exchanges and mutual understanding between the people of the two nations have been strengthened gradually, but not enough.
“China needs to further understand the United States, while the United States also needs to learn more about China,” acknowledged Liu, who expressed his hope that Viacom, as one of the largest media groups in the world, could make a greater contribution to increased mutual trust and understanding of the people of the two nations.
