Rural entrepreneur Sun Dawu’s release makes it to the Financial Times in an article headed ‘There’s hope for China, says freed entrepreneur’. The article is quite optimistic:
“For Mr Sun and the academics and legal experts who rallied to his support, the relatively lenient sentence – a suspended prison sentence and the fine – suggest growing willingness among authorities to listen to appeals from civil society.”
